Reading skill
Read performance is improved when:
1. Understanding vocabulary, the use of the word. Proficient in the use of words such as nouns, verbs adverbs prepositions, etc.
2. An understanding of basic sentence structure and grammar correctly.
3. Clearly understood the text, as well as the structure of the article. Know the position of the various sentences that make up a story, which is derived from understanding the meaning of the text. And the ability to follow stories read in the order, to understand the hidden meaning of the text.
This reading would have to start by reading books with simple sentences and simple vocabulary to understand better before added more difficult words, and complex sentences. If students are unsure of their English language skill, Students may bring books of learning from elementary school and secondary schools to test their reading. ทักษะการอ่านนี้คงต้องเริ่มจากการอ่านหนังสือที่มีรูปประโยคง่าย ๆ และศัพท์ ง่าย ๆ ก่อน เมื่อเข้าใจดีขึ้นก็เพิ่มความยากของศัพท์ให้มากขึ้น และประโยคที่มีโครงสร้างซับซ้อนขึ้น หากนักศึกษาไม่แน่ใจในทักษะภาษาอังกฤษของตนเอง นักศึกษาอาจนำหนังสือประกอบการเรียนตั้งแต่ระดับประถมศึกษา และมัธยมศึกษามาทดสอบการอ่านดู หากสามารถอ่านผ่านมาได้ ตอบคำถามต่าง ๆ ได้อย่างถูกต้อง ทักษะพื้นฐานของนักศึกษาก็ควรจะอยู่ในระดับที่สามารถจะศึกษาชุดวิชาภาษา อังกฤษพื้นฐานได้ เพราะชุดวิชาภาษาอังกฤษพื้นฐานเป็นชุดวิชาภาษาอังกฤษระดับอุดมศึกษา ที่มีเนื้อหาในลำดับที่สูงขึ้นจากภาษาอังกฤษระดับมัธยมศึกษานั้นเอง
